Todd
Wilson was appointed Director of Music of the Brotherhood of Harmony
Chorus in February of 2006. Wilson brought a wealth of experience to this
organization as a director, performer, coach, studio vocalist and
organizational leader.
He started singing in a quartet with his mother, father and sister at
age six and competed in his first international-level contest at age
thirteen. He's competed on the international stage fourteen more times
since 1973 as a quartet and chorus singer and director. Todd was born
and raised in West Palm Beach, Florida but moved west to Texas in 1982.
Todd remains active with two international champion quartets. He sings
tenor with ACOUSTIX and bass with the Suntones.
In January of 1990, and in a record-setting six months, ACOUSTIX was
judged "best in the world" in the International barbershop quartet
contest, making Wilson the first second-generation quartet gold medalist
in the history of the Barbershop Harmony Society. This foursome has gone
on to release five critically-acclaimed compact disc recordings and has
been electrifying audiences around the world for 16 years, including
almost 1000 appearances in 11 countries. Todd and the rest of his
quartet members were inducted into the Southwestern District Hall of
Fame in 2000.
Todd also performs a limited number of engagements annually with the
1961 International Quartet Champion Suntones, one of the world's
benchmark quartets. The Suntones have made over 1000 appearances in 48
states of the USA and released 11 albums over a span of five decades.
His dad Harlan is the baritone of that quartet. The Suntones were
inducted into the Barbershop Harmony Society's Hall of Fame in 2005.
Wilson served on the Board of Directors of the Barbershop Harmony
Society for almost three years before relocating to Kenosha, Wisconsin
and joining the headquarters staff in August of 2004. As Director of
Marketing and Membership, Todd is responsible for providing vision and
direction to the Society's marketing, membership, merchandising and
publications operations.
In addition to his gold medal with ACOUSTIX, Todd has earned six
international chorus gold medals with the Vocal Majority, where he
served on the music staff for over a decade.
Todd's most recent directing experience was with the 90-voice Houston
Tidelanders. During his two-year tenure, Wilson led the Tidelanders to a
Southwestern District Chorus Championship and two top-10 finishes at the
international chorus contest.
Todd's tenure with the chorus ended in May of 2007. When the
Barbershop Harmony Socity moved to Nashville, Todd and his family also
re-located.
